Cheremosh School of Dance

Pre-Registration

Pre-registration for the upcoming dance season is available to all returning and new members of the Ukrainian Cheremosh Society beginning May 1st.  Simply fill in a pre-registration form and return it with payment to the Cheremosh studio by June 30th to qualify for a 5% discount in tuition fees for the fall.

Pre-registration payment details:

a)    $5 Initial Admittance Fee, non-refundable, NEW members only

b)    $10, $25, or $50 Annual Membership Fee, non-refundable

c)    $100 deposit per dancer, applied to the upcoming season tuition fees*

*Deposit refund policy:

A refund may be granted if a pre-registered dancer chooses not to join classes in the fall. No refunds will be granted to dancers who attend one or more classes in the fall. A refund request must be received in writing at the Cheremosh studio no later than four (4) months from the date of a dancer’s pre-registration.

Cheremshyna

As the senior performing ensemble in the Cheremosh School of Dance, Cheremshyna is comprised of dancers aged 14 and up. Under the direction of Mykola Kanevets, Cheremshyna dancers have developed a prominent place in the Ukrainian dance community, delighting audiences with a skill and professionalism far beyond that often expected of a junior group.

Cheremshyna dancers spend a minimum of six hours a week in rehearsal. To the dancers, Cheremshyna is more than just a dance ensemble - it is a way of life. It is a sense of pride in the future of the young people of Canada. To Cheremosh, Cheremshyna is a promise of the future.

Requirements:

Rehearsal Times:

Monday and Thursday, 6:30-9:30 pm

Costumes:

Choreography changes from year to year, and because of this,

costume requirements will vary from year to year as well.

Performances:

As Cheremshyna is a performing ensemble, it is necessary for

dancers to be prepared to commit to frequent shows

throughout the year.

Fundraising:

In order to function smoothly as an organization, yearly

fundraising is required by dancers or their parents.

Past Trips:

Cheremshyna performs regularly, displaying their talents to audiences both locally and internationally, and they frequently travel during the summer. Their most recent destinations have been the Penticton Peach Festival, Art on the Green Festival in Idaho and Banff, Alberta.
