Past Directors

In 1982, taking over from Chester Kuc, former student and Cheremosh alumnus Richard Wacko became Artistic Director and led the company into an age of immense growth and maturation. After studying and performing with Les Ballets Russes de Montreal, as well as studying with the Virsky State Academy in Kyiv, Richard brought to Cheremosh a familiar yet unique approach to Ukrainian dance, most distinctively through the use of storytelling as his creative vehicle.

In the years between 1988 and 1991, Cheremosh alumni Ken Kachmar and Greg Bayda both served as Cheremosh’s artistic directors.
